The objectives of the Nanyang Polytechnic Buddhist Society are:
To teach and spread the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha
To promote interest and understanding in Buddhism
To foster a spirit of good fellowship among members
Nanyang Polytechnic Buddhist Society organizes many activities for its members; examples of these include organized Dharma talks, camps and discussion group meetings. We also hold a tea party annually for our freshmen and organise social outings to foster fellowship among the members.
To create networking opportunities among the Tertiary Buddhist Institutions, Nanyang Polytechnic Buddhist Society members take part in an event called OM Quest, organised by alumni from various tertiary institutions' Buddhist Societies. Participants from the different institutions including NTU, NUS, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and SIM formed groups of 5 and were given clues to search for the temples. They then have to 'decode' the clues, search for the temple and look for a designated person within before that person brings participants for short temple tour.
Besides organizing activities for our own society, the Nanyang Polytechnic Buddhist Society also supports and participates in activities organized by various Buddhist Institutions in Singapore.
